Exotic Animal Display and Public Encounter Experience FAQ's

Why Choose World of Exotics?

At World of Exotics, we're passionate about creating unforgettable animal encounters that educate, inspire and build confidence. Every session is carefully planned to ensure both participant safety and animal welfare, delivering an engaging experience that's tailored to your group.

Our displays are designed to be much more than just an animal attraction.

We use public events as an opportunity to promote better understanding of reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates, while challenging common misconceptions and encouraging respect for wildlife.

Our team can talk to visitors about:

  • Animal welfare
  • Conservation
  • Responsible exotic pet ownership
  • Natural habitats and behaviours
  • Safe and respectful animal handling
  • The importance of proper care and research
  • Reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates in the natural world

This makes our encounter displays a great choice for events that want to offer something engaging, educational and meaningful.

What type of events can you cover?

Our animal encounter displays are suitable for a wide range of public and community events, including:

  • Summer fairs
  • School fetes
  • Community fun days
  • Charity events
  • Open days
  • Family events
  • Holiday events
  • Scout, Guide and youth group events
  • Shopping centre events
  • Seasonal celebrations
  • Educational open evenings

We can adapt the display depending on the type of event, expected audience, venue space and whether the event is indoors or outdoors.

Can you tell me about animal welfare and safety?

Animal welfare is at the centre of everything we do.

All animals are carefully selected for each event based on suitability, temperament, travel considerations and welfare on the day. Some animals may be suitable for supervised handling, while others may be display-only.

Handling is always controlled by our team and may be paused or limited if needed. We will never force animal interaction, and our team will always prioritise the wellbeing of the animals.

We also provide guidance to visitors on how to behave calmly and respectfully around the animals, helping promote responsible and positive interactions.

Do you do outdoor Summer Events?

During the warmer months, we can attend suitable outdoor events with our branded World of Exotics gazebo, subject to weather conditions and site suitability.

Our gazebo helps create a clear, professional display area where visitors can meet the animals and speak with our team.

Outdoor attendance is always dependent on suitable weather, animal welfare and safety. Extreme heat, cold, heavy rain, strong wind or unsuitable ground conditions may mean the session needs to be moved indoors or rescheduled.

For outdoor events, we will discuss the setup requirements with you in advance to make sure the display area is safe and suitable.

Do you do indoor events if there is bad weather?

For winter events, colder weather, or particularly poor weather conditions, we would require an indoor space.

This helps us maintain safe temperatures, protect the animals from unsuitable conditions and provide a better experience for visitors.

Indoor setups are also ideal for school halls, community centres, event rooms, shopping centres and other venues where a calm, controlled space can be provided.

What are the venue requirements?

To help us deliver a safe and professional encounter display, we ask that event organisers provide a suitable space for our team and animals.

For outdoor events, we require:

  • A suitable area for our branded gazebo
  • Safe, level ground
  • Space away from excessive noise where possible
  • Vehicle access for unloading where available
  • Consideration for weather and temperature
  • A backup indoor option where possible

For indoor events, we require:

  • A suitable room or hall space
  • Safe access for bringing animals and equipment inside
  • Space for visitors to move around safely
  • An area away from loud speakers or intense noise
  • A calm and controlled setup area

We will discuss all requirements with you before confirming your booking.

Do you offer discount for schools?

Schools booking one of our animal education sessions can ask about our special discounted rate for summer fairs, Christmas fairs and school community events. This is a fantastic way to bring the experience to families and the wider school community after pupils have enjoyed one of our educational workshops.

Do you provide animal handling at public events?

Where suitable, we may allow supervised handling or touching of selected animals. This depends on the species, event environment, visitor numbers and animal welfare on the day. Some animals may be display-only.

Can you attend outdoor events?

Yes, during the warmer months we can attend suitable outdoor events with our branded gazebo, subject to weather conditions and site suitability.

What happens if the weather is bad?

If the weather is unsuitable, we may require the display to be moved indoors. Heavy rain, strong wind, extreme temperatures or unsafe conditions may prevent us from setting up outdoors.

Do you attend winter events?

Yes, but winter events or colder weather bookings would need to be indoors to ensure the animals are kept in suitable conditions.

What animals will you bring?

The animals used may vary depending on availability, suitability, weather, travel considerations and welfare. Displays may include reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates.

Are your displays suitable for children?

Yes. Our displays are family-friendly and designed to be educational, engaging and supervised at all times.

Do you need much space?

Space requirements depend on the type of event and display. For outdoor events, we usually require space for our branded gazebo. For indoor events, we need a safe area where visitors can engage with the display without overcrowding.

Are you insured?

Yes, our encounter activities are covered by public liability insurance.

Do you provide risk assessment information?

Yes, risk assessment information can be provided in advance for event organisers.

How much does it cost?

Pricing depends on the event location, duration, setup requirements and the type of display needed. Please contact us for a quote.
