  • Sale -10% Locusts

    Locusts

Locusts (Schistocerca gregaria) are among the cleanest and most sought-after staple feeders in the exotic pet world. These active, highly visible climbers deliver constant movement that triggers powerful feeding responses in visual hunters. Unlike crickets, they're completely silent and won't bite or harm your animal if uneaten. With soft bodies and low fat content—approximately 20% protein and just 5–7% fat—locusts are an excellent choice for animals prone to obesity. However, like most feeder insects, they have an imbalanced calcium-to-phosphorus ratio, so gut-loading or dusting before feeding is essential.Perfect for leopard geckos, crested geckos, juvenile bearded dragons, chameleons, tree frogs, small skinks, and countless other reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates.Care is straightforward: gut-load with fresh greens such as kale, dandelion and spring greens, then lightly dust with calcium and vitamin supplement immediately before feeding. Keep in a well-ventilated tub in a warm, dry environment (25–35°C), avoiding excess moisture. Provide fresh greens for nutrition and hydration.Quantities are hand-packed and approximate with a small margin of variation—we always aim for the quoted amount as a minimum. Choose the pack size that suits your collection best.
