With its intense output of UVA and UVB rays – combined with a well-balanced visible light spectrum – the Exo Terra® Reptile UVB300 T5 Very High Output Bulb is specifically designed to meet the needs of reptiles basking in open or midday sun in the Euphotic or Heliophotic Zones. The intensity of the emissions varies depending on the distance from the basking area.
Higher levels of UV are vital for the physiological wellbeing of these animals, which thrive under intense sunlight. They actively interact with their environment when the sun is high or even at its peak – showcasing an exemplary adaptation to solar intensity by optimising body temperature and UVB intake during basking behaviour.
The Exo Terra® Reptile UVB300 VHO T5 Bulb helps promote healthy Vitamin D3 synthesis, which in turn facilitates improved calcium absorption – safeguarding against Metabolic Bone Disease. Its UVA and UVB emissions surpass those of traditional T8 bulbs and energy-efficient alternatives, while enhanced UVB penetration extends its suitability for use in taller terrariums or those equipped with denser screens.
For optimal results and prolonged lifespan of the bulb, we recommend using it in conjunction with the Exo Terra® T5 Terrarium Top High-Performance Reptile UVB Fixture.

Keepers can use the UV Index reference values to ensure that animals are exposed to an appropriate level of UV when basking. Creating a gradient – from highest safe UV index at the basking area to lowest UV index in cooler areas – means they can completely self-regulate alongside their thermoregulatory behaviours. They should not be allowed to expose themselves to more than a safe maximum and should have the freedom to escape all light completely with areas of zero UV and Infrared. This can be achieved by strategically adding plants, hides, and decorative items to create shaded zones.
To support the efficient conversion of vitamin D3 and enhance various metabolic and hormonal processes, it is beneficial to ensure that UV light exposure is complemented by an ample supply of infrared-A (NIR) radiation. The most effective sources can be found in Tungsten Halogen or standard Incandescent spot bulbs, such as the Exo Terra Intense Basking Spot or Halogen Basking Spot. This combination promotes optimal body temperature regulation and overall well-being.

The Exo Terra Cricket Pen is ideal for housing, keeping and dispensing live crickets. Crickets prefer dark spaces, and will readily crawl into the tubes which provide hiding places for them, making it easy to use the tubes as dispensing tools. The tubes remain in position when the lid is removed, allowing easy access and less chance of cricket escape. Simply pull out a tube, shake a few crickets into the terrarium or feeder, and replace the tube back into the cricket pen.
Tip: To keep your crickets alive longer “gut load” or provide a slice of apple for food!

Simply slide the tube out of the Exo Terra Cricket Pen and drop the flapper down to prevent escapes. If needed, cover the tube opening with one hand while transporting it to the terrarium or feeder. Remove your hand and lightly tap on the tube to release the appropriate number of crickets for feeding. Only one tube should be removed at a time to avoid crickets escaping.
Cricket Care: Crickets should be kept in a well-ventilated room at a temperature range between 21-23 0C (70-75 0F) with low humidity. Keep the cricket pen out of direct sunlight and cold drafts. Always keep the cricket pen clean and dry. High quality cricket food and water should be provided at all times, both of which should be offered in the shallow food and water dishes provided. The water dish has a foam insert to prevent the crickets from drowning. Replace the foam inserts when soiled or damaged. Available separately (PT2288). Cleaning Instructions: It is necessary to clean the unit regularly. Remove all debris and waste and clean the entire unit with hot tap water. Never use soap or detergent as it may leave a residue that can be harmful or even deadly to the crickets.

The high-quality electronic ballast eliminates flickering completely and increases the performance and lifespan of any T5 VHO bulb. The Exo Terra® T5 Terrarium Top comes with a grounded plug for maximum safety, and is protected against over-voltage, over-current, end of lamp life (EOL) and over-heating. The highly polished reflector increases lamp output 2,5 times! Up to 10 Exo Terra® T5 Terrarium Top can be easily linked using the optional grounded interconnection cable.
