The Arcadia Reptile D3 Compact Bulb uses the standard E27 screw thread lamp holder, is versatile and easy to use.The D3 Compact Bulbs can be used easily over smaller vivaria for small and hatchling animals.
The Arcadia Reptile ProT5 UV-B Kit arrives complete with high quality electronics, a highly effective but removable reflector and a choice of High Output T5 UVB lamp.This easy to use Kit can be fixed easily inside a vivarium, rested upon a wire meshed glassed terrarium or even hung within an enclosure (where safe to do so).Its sleek design and specially curved reflector will ensure that you use less space but project as much light forward as possible. The Kit also arrives with a free link cable which allows multiple units to be powered from a suitable single power source.The ProT5Kit reflector has 2 angles of reflection from the side of each curve. This means that ProT5 projects high levels of UV rich light directly beneath the unit at around 12"/30cm to create a basking zone but then also provides a wide flood as light spreads out over distance. This will allow you to create a suitable UV-B provision for any species and over a suitably wide area.The reflector is also easy to remove and clean. The high-quality electronic ballast eliminates flickering completely and increases the performance and lifespan of any T5 VHO bulb. The Exo Terra® T5 Terrarium Top comes with a grounded plug for maximum safety, and is protected against over-voltage, over-current, end of lamp life (EOL) and over-heating. The highly polished reflector increases lamp output 2,5 times! Up to 10 Exo Terra® T5 Terrarium Top can be easily linked using the optional grounded interconnection cable. This reduces cable clutter and allows you to control all 10 fixtures via 1 timer.

The average life of a D3 UV Basking Lamp is around 6,000 hours or 8 months of continuous usage. However, used with an effective terrarium light controller, that you regularly switch on or off to create an adequate temperature gradient, we would expect the bulb to last a year or longer. Mercury vapour bulbs are exactly what they sound like, glass bulbs filled with mercury vapour which project a full spectrum light. Mercury Vapour bulbs are safe when they are kept intact, given sufficient room and hung in a vertical position. the vertical position allows convection currents to circulate within the bulb, prolonging its lifespan. As with all Mercury Vapour Bulbs, these cannot be used with a thermostat or external ballast and should only be used in large enclosures, or open-top tables.
